While CCEP’s core initiatives are currently focused on economic data and workforce development, a wide range of issues and projects fall within the scope of CCEP’s mission to improve the economy in Contra Costa County.

Accordingly, CCEP hosts roundtables with employers, economic development professionals, and community, city, and county leaders on a breadth of topics to identify opportunities for growth and address urgent challenges. Below are areas where CCEP has historically been engaged and will continue to prioritize.

LAND USE & HOUSING ACCESSIBILITY

CCEP supports smart land use decisions that help businesses and residents thrive. This entails collaborating with local governments and developers to expand housing options, attract new industries, and support successful business and mixed-use development.

Major focuses include the Concord Naval Weapons Station and the Green Empowerment Zone along the Northern Waterfront.

TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE

CCEP is committed to enhancing public transit, highway infrastructure, and innovative transportation technologies, such as autonomous vehicles.

Improving issues such as traffic congestion, the last mile problem, and bike lane accessibility are all vital to fostering regional mobility and a more sustainable community and economy.

EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

CCEP is dedicated to better aligning education and training with the workforce needs of the future so that local businesses continue to thrive on local talent.

As a part of this goal we helped launch Earn & Learn, a nonprofit that supports work-based learning programs. Our next big project is the Healthcare Workforce Initiative.

HEALTH & WELL-BEING

Believing there is a significant link between economic outcomes and community health, CCEP champions improving access to healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities.

In partnership with healthcare providers CCEP aims to improve medical infrastructure and technology to enhance service delivery and economic resilience.

ENERGY & MANUFACTURING

With the major role energy and manufacturing play in Contra Costa County’s economy, CCEP supports regulations that balance economic stability with environmental protection.

We also promote the adoption of advanced technologies in manufacturing, next-generation battery development, micro-grid pilot programs, and energy production.
